Through confinement and barrier gestures, the pandemic has wholly turned our routine and our very conception of beauty upside down. Gone are the days of glow, neon highlights and lipstick… 2021 will be the year of naturalness and authenticity.
The natural returns at a gallop. This expression will never have been as relevant as in this year 2020, where make-up has faded in favour of minimalist beauty. Goodbye foundation, lipstick and another highlighter: confinement has allowed all of us – or almost – to let our skin breathe and take care of it with cocooning rituals. And we’ve taken a liking to it, so much so that there’s no going back. If 2020 has sounded the return of the natural, 2021 will now allow us to assume it.
Neon highlights vs white hair
Yellow, blue, pink or neon orange streaks. This is the trend we expected this year regarding hairstyles, seen and reviewed on the catwalks of the four fashion capitals and already adopted by many models and influencers. But that was before the health crisis because the pandemic has radically changed the situation. As soon as the announcement of the closure of hairdressing salons last March, the panic did not come from a shortage of fluorescent colouring, but more simply from the impossibility of hiding the white coat which was inevitably going to cover the top of our skull.
