And what about scooters? I’m planning a trip to Tenerife and Gran Canaria next summer and don’t want to drive a car, I’ve found one company (www.bikesbooking.com) with cheap scooter rental, but my friend told me that traffic is crazy in some parts of Tenerife and it can be dificult to drive from city to city because of highways. Did anyone rented a scooter on Tenerife and can share his experience?

OH! Can you really still rent/drive a stick in Spain? If so, I’m there this summer! I miss really driving. And I’ve wanted to visit. Which cities, aside from Barcelona, would you most recommend?

The website you link to and recommend for getting International Driver’s License from idlservice.com seems to be a scam.

One, I found that they are refered to as International Driver’s Permits not ‘licenses’.

This is what the DMV states on their site:

“Avoiding IDP Fraud
Unfortunately, numerous organizations sell fake International Driving Permits, and most of them charge much more than the regular fee; so, by falling prey to these scam companies, not only will you lose money, but also you’ll end up with a fake document—something you don’t want to show up with after traveling to your destination country.
Remember, the American Automobile Association (AAA) and the American Automobile Touring Alliance (AATA) are the only organizations approved for issuing IDPs.”

I heard so many horrible stories driving in spain. I am a 64 years old Asian femail planning traveling alone.
I traveled all over Europe by myself with rental car. Driving is not a problem but the safey is a big issue.
I had a bad experience in Marsailles. When I stoped the red light someone opened the car door and took my bag and ranaway. I didn’t lock the door that time. After that I always lock the door.

Is it safe driving alone highway and stop at a restroom? I heard that someone punk the tire and following the car. I really want to travel Spain by car but it makes me so nervous.
