I definitely think tipping is more common for tourists to do here.

I’ve spoken to many locals here who don’t tip and don’t feel like they should as they need the money themselves and don’t want to overpay.

So I do believe the majority of tipping does come from foreigners, mainly in the touristy bars and other hotspots!
Locals will sometimes leave tips from what I’ve seen but only small change.

I’m catalan and don’t tip – the idea is very foreign to me. I don’t know of anyone who does so from that region of spain. buying products or services is expensive enough as it is, so why should i pay more for anything than is necessary? – i don’t have enough money to go around giving it away like that. if i did, it would probably make more sense to give it to charity.
