For the main islands, the Azores is really a year-round destination. For using ferries to the outer islands, bear in mind that services are thin (even non-existent) in the winter.

The tourist hot spots do get very crowded in July and August. Taking all that into account, we think June and September are the top months for exploring the Azores. Bear in mind that travel times are long. Even with a fortnight, and using inter-island ferries, you’d still only have time to scrape the surface of this remarkable archiepelago.
