I am definitely a Theodora fan! My favorite read on Paris. She should write an entire book on exploring Paris! I feel confident that it would beat out any book out there on the subject. As always, her works are informative, entertaining, clever, and insightful — and accurate. I couldn’t ask for more.

Coolio! I’m really getting a kick out of your shopping tips, Theodara. But what someone really needs to tell travelers about is how to pack light and small when we leave home so we can haul all this great stuff back without tipping the scales at the airport. Books aren’t so light! My own trick (if you can call it that) is to put all the dense, heavy stuff (like books) in the carry-on bag, the laptop and camera in the “personal item” you’re also allowed to take on board, and then cram all the big bulky items like clothes (or gift lingerie from Sympa–I loved that piece you wrote, too!) in the check-in bags. They don’t usually weigh the carry-ons, so if you can manage to stagger to your plane with your stuff you can really take advantage of some of those great book deals you mentioned. I’m going to be ready to hit the ground running next time I go. I’ve never heard of some of those book stores, so I’m psyched!
