We’re glad to hear you are finding our Paris tips useful. You can buy a Paris Pass online before you go. You can also get it at either of the airports (CDG and ORLY), but you might want to wait until you get to Paris, because the big museums like the Louvre, D’Orsay, and Pompidou also sell it. Regarding a rental car, there is no need to have one, unless you are going on a road trip outside the city. The Metro is easy to use and cheap, and it’s also a great walking or biking city, if that is more of your style. Buy a ten pack of subway tickets (called a “carnet”) for only €14.10 from a ticket window in a Metro station. Have fun!

We are 10 months out before our travel to Paris. Getting inside info now helps me prepare for when we get there. How can one purchase the Paris museum pass? Also, to rent a car or not? What is the best way to get around town?

All but 4 of the kings of France are buried there. Interesting….audio guide available.

If purchasing a museum pass doesn’t add up economically for you, you can still access the Louvre via alternate entrances, including through the Carrousel de Louvre underground mall and the little used Porte des Lions (check for hours when open).

And I wouldn’t miss the Louvre for anything — rain or shine! It was a highlight of Paris for me.

It was pouring buckets at times on Sunday and today. I waited out the showers over lunch.

You can get a two-day, four-day or six-day pass.
They aren’t cheap, but with limited time in Paris, why waste it standing in line?

We love to go to the big FNAC on Ave des Ternes when it rains. The children’s section on the top floor has tons of books, open space and lots of comfy chairs to welcome you as you laze about and browse the books on a rainy day.
