The bus absolutely beats the metro for visiting Paris when you’re traveling outside rush hours.

As an addition to the 7 buses in the article I can also recommend line 96, which takes you from Saint Germain to Ile de la Cité and into the Marais. There it comes across the rue de Bretagne with its brasseries and the marché des enfants rouges and it continues to the up and coming Ménilmontant.
