I really wanted to visit a Turkish bath on my recent visit to Istanbul but was a little apprehensive as to exactly what happens and just just how naked you have to get. I found all of the information quite scattered until I found https://www.turkishbaths.org where you can book a package at a Turkish Bath. The website explained the ritual and what was involved with clear information about the packages. It was easy to identify this Turkish Bath as the one I wanted to visit and I was not let down by the visit. It is a beautiful building and inside it feels very calm and feels like you leave the city behind for a while. It was an excellent experience and really easy to book from turkishbaths.org. Cheers and Happy Travels!

However, I think you missed a very important point about going to a local non-touristy hamam – the awkward naked scrubdown where they rub you down EVERYWHERE and they rub you so hard it hurts. Honda Vs The World and The Travelettes just wrote about their experiences and it was pretty hilarious reading their reactions to this treatment. I think they both liked it though! And getting the local experience would probably be a fun story for later 🙂

I was referring to Constantinople as the capital of the Ottoman Empire, and I’ve clarified this to make it more clear :).
