In fact, this is one of Europe’s fastest growing airlines – a point that is often forgotten as we all note the rapid expansion of LCCs like EasyJet, Norwegian and Air Baltic.

Ranked by total numbers of passengers flown, Turkish was Europe’s 7th largest airline in 2009, up three places from its 10th place slot in 2008. And Turkish airports continued to grow in 2009 while elsewhere in Europe growth stagnated (well, except for Latvia and Albania, which also showed substantial overall growth in airport traffic in 2009).
