also the more common way to order a standard 25cl glass of beer is ‘Une chope svp’ (pronounced ‘shop’). You can also order a 15cl wine glass of beer, which is called ‘un galopin’ .

Beer habits in France have changed massively. I would not bother going to a bar with Stella, Grimbergen or Pelforth. There are so many craft beer bars these days, selling fairly reasonably priced local and foreign beers.

Great article (as usual). One tip when ordering a Kronenbourg 1664, a waiter on the rue de Rennes told me “On commande simplement un SEIZE (pronounced SEZ in good parisian French)”. In English: simple ask for a 16. I felt like local from then on. My French Canadian accent obviously didn’t cut it in Paris.
